Don’t Overstay Your Welcome
“It’s so nice when a guest offers to clean up,” says Post. However she advises to let it go if your hosts say no. “Offer to help and accept what you get. If they tell you to stay put, let that be the answer. What you done is the good thing to chip in. If it’s very formal and being catered with a server, it’s probably not the best idea to offer.”

Even if you are cleaning, be sure not to linger too long. “Take cues from your host,” recommends Post.

“If they start turning lights off or talking about what they will do the next day, these are good indications that it’s a good time to go home.”
