There are plenty of ways to adorn a wall, but original art can be expensive and inaccessible. Enter this cheap and easy DIY idea, which can be personalized however you'd like and used just about anywhere in the home!

To start, choose your favorite hue and paint a floating shelf and a spot of color on the wall—the brighter, the better. Next, install your newly painted shelf inside the spot—et voila!—you've got a vibrant, playful place to display photos, flowers, plants, or tchotchkes. Rotate art in and out of the painted 'frame' and switch up the colors as seasons change. It's perfect for a display of spices in the kitchen, perfume in the bathroom, or photos and art in the living room or bedroom.
