Let me start by saying: I am so not an illustrator. When I began finger-doodling little snips and phrases on my iPad a year or so ago, it was simply to procrastinate in the face of looming deadlines. When some arty friends, my chic Lonny colleagues, and even my boyfriend started to take note of the scribbles I was sharing on Instagram, I was surprised—and, in short order, industrious. I immediately started thinking of ways I could use the super quick drawings in cost-effective, personal ways.
With February 14th approaching, it seemed a waste not to transpose the simple images onto crisp white cards to give my loved ones. For my hilarious little sister? A magenta-tinged ewe double-entendre. For my Valentine? A cuckoo pun to signify my affection.
And while I don't have a French flame, I imagine someone who does might enjoy propping this crazy love card on their pillow for the big day. Or, more realistically, I'm thinking Jay-Z may want to surprise Beyoncé with it.
The takeaway? If you have passable handwriting, a good pen (or trustry iPad app), and some white notes, there's no reason not to come up with a fun original sketch for the object of your V Day amour!
