Inside Reese Witherspoon's California Ranch

Actress Reese Witherspoon may be known for her Oscar-winning roles and dramatic red carpet fashion, but it's her taste in real estate (and stunning interiors) that caught our eye. The Legally Blonde star's 5,481 square foot Ojai, California ranch is high on style—and steeped in history. Designed by revered California architect Wallace Neff in 1923 for glassware magnate Edward Libbey, the sprawling property also counts famed interior designer Kathryn Ireland as a former owner. Its allure even captured the imagination of Academy Award-winning director Frank Capra, who used it as a stand-in for Shangri-La in Lost Horizon

While Ireland filled the home with her signature colorful style, Witherspoon brought in decorator Kristen Buckingham to revamp the spaces in a neutral palette, using earthy textures to complement the property's gorgeous landscape. Oversize stone fireplaces, rustic exposed beams, ample Spanish tile and centuries-old hardware only add to the country-chic aesthetic.

Between the main house and three guest cottages, the estate boasts nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. As if that weren't enough, there is also a carriage house, swimming pool, spa, horse stables, a blacksmith’s shop, a four-car garage, and organic gardens on the grounds. Witherspoon recently sold the property for $4.98 million; we can't wait to see where she ends up next!
