Grab your paint brushes! Sherwin-Williams just announced its Color of the Year for 2018 and we are so into the dramatic shade. "Oceanside" is a gorgeous blend of rich blue and jewel-toned green to create a moody, yet uplifting hue. A lighter take on indigos that we fell in love with the previous year, we can definitely see Oceanside making a splash on an accent wall.

“Green-blues in deep values, such as Oceanside, respond to changes in light, which is a quality that creates intense dimension,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “It is a tremendously versatile color, and harmonizes with other diverse color groups.”

Not only is it versatile in the home space, but it also brings a bit of the outdoors in. “People today have a growing sense of adventure, and it is making its way into even the coziest corners of our homes," says Wadden. "We are craving things that remind us of bright folklore, like mermaids and expeditions across continents. Oceanside is the color of wanderlust right in our own homes.”

We also can definitely see the shade popping up in restaurants, stores, and even offices around the country next year. “Oceanside is reminiscent of the multi-tonal blues found in nature, offering a memorable, yet calming effect for public spaces,” says Wadden. “It is a new twist on navy, a common color for use in commercial spaces. When placed correctly, it is refreshing and offers dimension and depth as a statement color.”

While last year's color "Poised Taupe" definitely was seen around spaces this year, we have a feeling that 2018 is going to bring us a lot of "Oceanside" views.
