For the past few years now, the design world has had an enduring obsession with light and airy, cloth-covered metal lamps. If you, too, are smitten with breezy pendant lights like the Koushi Lamp by Mark Eden Schooley or the Ay Illuminate by Nelson Sepulveda but aren’t ready to invest in them, this economical DIY is a lovely alternative—and it bears striking resemblance to the originals.

Brought to us by two Berlin-based outposts, design studio Salty Interiors and fashion boutique Mint & Berry, the project entails some light construction to create a frame and simple sewing to make the fabric cover. Just like the end result, the entire process is surprisingly sweet and simple. The concise, (just 5-step!) how-to can be found on Mint & Berry.
