A Classic Cocktail is in Order

This post was written by guest contributor Jenny McCoy, an authority on baking and pastry who has created dessert menus for Tom Colicchio’s Craft and Emeril Lagasse’s New Orleans restaurants. Her cookbook, Jenny McCoy’s Desserts for Every Season, will be published this September by Rizzoli. Look for her posts all month on our blog.
(CC image from Dinner Series on Flickr)At a wedding last weekend in which the bride and groom chose their favorite cocktail—the classic Tom Collins—to be served as the drink of the evening, I found myself sipping the night away with ease. I’m one of those ladies that wrangles their way up to the bar and blanks on what to order every time, mostly because I enjoy just about every type of liquor and have never been decisive enough to settle into the same old sip of my own.

So with that, I’ve decided to serve my own signature cocktail at each of my spring and summer gatherings. Guests can have one upon arrival as a refreshing welcome drink or sip them all night long. Of course, I’ll still have plenty of other drinks available. Just as long as folks can have a good time while having some of the guesswork complete.
