Consider Your Space
Before anything else, consider if you can actually get your furniture piece into your home. "This goes for any piece of furniture, but is especially relevant for custom pieces, which you likely won’t be able to return," say Rea and Segal.

"If your dream piece is a massive headboard the length of your bedroom wall, make sure the headboard can get in the front door, up the stairs, and get through the door to your bedroom. If it can’t, don’t be deterred!"

If you have a problem, the pair say, "Ask the design team for help solving the problem. Maybe that big headboard can be delivered in two separate pieces and assembled on site. Where there’s a will there’s a way, just make sure you know the way before it’s at your door!"
