Makeovers are a continual editing process. I should know—I've been working on perfecting my bedroom for the last six months. Every week I have a fresh crop of ideas, usually sourced from Pinterest. What's happening with white walls in Copenhagen? How are they doing layered textiles in L.A.? I finally channeled all of that inspiration into a few key design choices that have made a big impact. First, I painted the walls—originally a muted butter hue—a pristine shade of white. Next, I hung a shelf over my bed, rather than creating a gallery wall or hanging just one large framed piece. Then, motivated by this vignette in artist Mary Nelson Sinclair's apartment, I grouped together some of my favorite flea market finds, including abstract art, mismatched vases, and a foo dog. The end result is a clean and refreshing upgrade that's renter-friendly and easy to switch around.
