"After the scare in Flint Michigan, we should all be concerned about water quality," says Blazovsky. "What leaves the water treatment plant may not be what is coming into your home. Fixtures, old piping, pesticides, and fertilizers on the lawn can all affect water quality in your home."

Have your own private water system? Blazovsky says, "Make sure to do a water test every 3-5 years. Nitrates are considered safe at 10 ppm, however World Health Organization research shows that 6ppm of nitrates could increase risk of cancer." In short? "Know what’s in your water."
