Jenny Komenda, Designer and Founder of Little Green Notebook Blog

Photo: Jenny KomendaWhen Jenny Komenda opened her design firm in 2007, she decided it was the perfect time to start blogging. Since then, her Little Green Notebook has blossomed into an unmissable decorating resource, offering helpful how-tos for DIY projects accompanied by inspirational images.

“My first love will always be smart and chic DIY projects,” she explains, “with hunting for unique fabrics and vintage furniture [running] a close second.” This month, Komenda shares some of her favorite items with Lonny.

My favorite watch is a vintage men’s Timex with a simple mother-of-pearl face. I’m thinking about adding this gold Timex into my rotation. Timex Premium Originals: $80; Timex

I picked up one of these auction catalogs recently at a flea market. I’ve been in heaven, poring over the pages filled with Jackie’s treasures. She had such an eye for design! Sotheby’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Estate Auction Catalog, 1996; $74.99; eBay

I love to mix modern and traditional decor, and the same goes for my table settings. This mod flatware works so well with my antique china patterns. Rondo Gold Cutlery by Cutipol: $85/5-piece place setting; Horne

I am crazy for shagreen on anything: furniture, notebooks, jewelry. And since I use my iPhone all day long, I just had to have this shagreen cover. Shagreen iPhone Case: $85;

I need stylish but comfortable footwear for running around the city. I’ve been clocking quite a few miles in these booties this fall. Nanette Cap-Toe Bootie: $395; Loeffler Randall

We’re working on a kitchen renovation in our brownstone, and the cabinets are painted a dark gray (Farrow & Ball’s Down Pipe). I’m thinking a mint-green fridge from Smeg would be the perfect addition, especially because it would actually fit in my tiny kitchen! Smeg Refrigerator in Pastel Green: $1,999; West Elm

A special jacket can turn even a T-shirt and jeans into workappropriate attire. I’m always on the lookout for exciting blazers. Embellished Jacket by Topshop: $190; Nordstrom

I have a pair of antique opaland-gold stud earrings that I wear almost daily. They still feel classic, but a little younger than pearls. Pink Firestone Earrings: $9.85; Silk Purse, Sow’s Ear Shop on Etsy

I’m working on developing a fabric line, and researching patterns might be the best part of my day. This book is helpful and so inspiring. Notan: The Dark-Light Principle of Design by Dorr Bothwell and Marlys Mayfield: $8.95; Dover
