Eco Find of (Earth!) Day: Stainless-Steel Insulated Mugs by Klean Kanteen

I'd like to say Happy Earth Day to everyone, but just so we're clear: every day is Earth Day. While April 22nd is a good annual reminder of the importance of all things save-the-planet, every day—yep, all 365—we should be asking ourselves how we can make better choices, even small ones, that support the longevity of our resources.

Look around your desk, your office, your kitchen. What are disposable items you use that inevitably end up in your waste bin? A few plastic water bottles? A couple of paper coffee cups? Plastic wrap from lunch or snacks? Maybe even, gasp, a plastic grocery bag? We've gotten pretty good at bringing reusable bags to the market and even lugging a reusable water bottle in our purse. But what about those used cappuccino cups forming a sculptural stack on your desk?
Klean Kanteen is known for its durable stainless-steel water bottles (check out this beauty with a bamboo top). I never leave home without the vacuum-insulated mug pictured above for my favorite vice. My coffee stays HOT for hours—and if I use it for an iced beverage, there's still ice in the container the next day. No joke. It also doubles as my water bottle between latte runs.

(Photos courtesy of Klean Kanteen)I dream about a coffee-shop revolution in which cafes only offer to-go beverages in reusable containers or to-stay service in ceramic mugs. Until then, get yourself one of these. And look out for Kleen Kanteen's stainless-steel food containers, coming soon.
