(Fig & Yarrow Facial Care Kit: $44)Confession: Until recently, I bought all my makeup and body care products at the drugstore. I chose carefully, buying items labeled "organic" or "98 percent natural," but they still had ingredients I couldn't understand (or pronounce). A good rule of thumb for anything you're going to put on your skin, and thus into your body: If the ingredients read like a formula from a college chemistry class, they're probably not the best choice.
(Fig & Yarrow Spring Herbal Steam: $16)On a trip to Colorado last year I met Brandy Monique, who at the time was just about to launch her artisan line of small-batch, handcrafted organic beauty and body products, Fig+Yarrow. I bought her Facial Serum and was hooked. My skin felt hydrated (read: happy), and the product didn't smell like chemicals. Its ingredients read like a botanical dictionary: rosehip, hazelnut, pomegranate, rosemary...

(Fig & Yarrow Rose+ Vanilla Tinted Lip Blush: $10. Photos courtesy of Fig+Yarrow)Since then I've incorporated more of the Fig+Yarrow line into my morning routine, and love gifting these feel-good, look-good products too. Bonus: packaging that practically defines utiltarian chic.
