We recently stumbled upon the paintings of artist Vanessa Briggs and couldn't resist sharing some of our favorites. Born in 1970, Seattle-based Briggs has lived in London, Cairo and the suburbs of Paris. If this isn't impressive enough, she also boasts a resume that puts ours to shame: Briggs studied architecture in Bordeaux, Visual Arts at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, and Contemporary Art in Tourcoing, France.
The "Sunsets" series caught our eye with its muted palette and soft, abstract composition. With hints of orange and pink, each scene decisively suggests a sunset without being confrontational and cliche. Just 12" x 12" in size, they can be arranged in a cluster or placed alone. (12" x 12" cost $350 a piece; Briggs sells her work directly)
