And the best part is, with the right guidelines, you can achieve the look no matter your chosen hue.

So to show us how to do tone-on-tone right, we connected with inspiring stylist and creative consultant Bianca Sotelo. Here she shares her rules of thumb to make the effect feel layered, not one-note, and designs a dramatic tonal room that has us feeling the blues—in the best way possible.
