Most urbanites are familiar with the concept of a pop-up shop; a good number more trek to their local farmer's market every weekend. What if the two came together in the ultimate marriage of convenience and locavorism? That's just what happened earlier this month thanks to Good Eggs, a new kind of local grocery delivery service that allows customers to shop directly from their local farmers and foodmakers online, order exactly what they want, and have their groceries picked and prepped to order. Top LA influencers and tastemakers came out to celebrate the service earlier this month with a pop-up market at Palihouse West Hollywood. Producers and vendors alike were on hand to educate attendees about their products and operations; guests filled their Good Eggs totes with farm-fresh produce and locally made treats from an impressive roster of vendors including Middlebar, Health Ade, Other Brothers Co., Clark Street Bread, and Mylk.

"At the heart of this mission is providing a better, more direct connection between food producers and customers," said Good Eggs founder Rob Spiro. "The pop-up market [facilitates that] in person through conversations and sampling." The company's mission statement is simple: To grow and sustain local food systems worldwide. Spiro and his business partner Alon Salant partnered with local farmers & foodmakers to develop the best business ideas and practices to support their social and environmental goals. Today, people all over the Bay Area, Brooklyn, Los Angeles and New Orleans can shop directly from their local farmers on GoodEggs.com. Best of all, the service is free! To find out more about the service and shop your local market, visit Good Eggs onlineTo read more about Palihouse, check out our Monday Design Daydream feature.
