Tappan, the cutting-edge art marketplace for original works, prints, and collectables, is expanding into the wine industry. In a collaboration with Winc, an innovative online wine club, Tappan is launching Selected Works, a continuous collection of artfully bottled vino.
Art and wine go hand in hand—both represent a labor of love and creativity. Together, Tappan and Winc pair tasteful wines with emerging artists to create a collection for connoisseurs everywhere. In hopes of bringing wine and art to a broader audience, the two innovators will release limited editions of seasonal wines. Each bottle will feature work by a different artist, who will translate the notes and flavors of the specialty wine onto a screen-printed bottle. The first edition?
A Carneros Chardonnay featuring a bottle designed by Daniel Fletcher, a London-based contemporary artist. In an official statement, Fletcher reflects on his interpretation of the wine and his use of color on the bottle, stating “I want to encapsulate an overall high spirit that would reflect the optimism of the summer months...it was important to maintain a level of reserve in the composition to highlight the wine’s elegant palate.”
Artists will use color, form, and texture to create collectable works coveted by art and wine aficionados alike. The new collection of small-lot, premium wines bottled by limited-edition works will officially launch on October 18, and the second bottle is to come on Dec 5. Lovers of art, meet lovers of wine. Now that there’s an official merging of the crafts, wine not embrace the two as one?
