Beyoncé's Stylist Is Creating An IKEA Collection
Minimalist IKEA is going goth glam.
While you might not have heard of Bea Åkerlund before, you have definitely witnessed her amazing fashion sense. The Swedish stylist has dressed some of the biggest superstars in the world including Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna. Her next project? A collaboration with IKEA that's going to bring a whole lot of personality to the minimalist brand.
“It’s a collection for the people: a Bea – IKEA mash up. I wanted it to be fun, relatable, and accessible to everyone," said Åkerlund in an interview with the brand. The OMEDELBAR line — which will include large glass hats, red lip-shaped pillows, 3D printed hands for decorative jewelry display, and a B-shaped lamp — definitely strays from the typical IKEA aesthetic, but we are seriously excited to see the results.
“It’s a collection that allows for not taking life so seriously," says Åkerlund . "I want people to have a little fun in their lives. You can get one hand and put it on the wall, or 100 hands and turn it into a piece of art. Buy one lip pillow, or buy 20 to create a lip pillow ocean. Fill the hat with anything: from apples to your collection of buttons, to your bathroom essentials. It’s really all up to you.”
She adds, "It’s all about stepping out of your comfort zone – take a chance and dare to not follow the rules." Mark your calendars for your style rebellion next March when the collection finally hits the stores.
