In an interview with W magazine, Solange Knowles describes her song Borderline (Ode To Self Care) as, "an ode to how our home becomes a safe space, where we can just love and not deal with some of the intensities that go along with existing in these spaces." To us, the artist's explanation encapsulates the meaning of home, and how comfort and chaos can coexist, separately.
After referencing the peaceful place Knowles strives to live in and the turn of another calendar year, we've launched into our January content theme. But, before you eye-roll at yet another self-help extravaganza, hear us out. We're not about to advise that you set the timer for 10 minutes and meditate every morning after writing a cathartic, long-winded journal entry and revving up your juice maker (that was so 2017). Rather, we're taking a deep dive into self-care, when it's effective, and how to master it in your home.
From interviewing psychologists in order to better understand the science of nesting to finding out the latest products you always should have on display, we're conducting somewhat of a self-care research lab here at Lonny — and we're spilling all of our conclusions.
Stay tuned, and let us know what you'd like to learn about when it comes to home-inspired wellness. If you've already learned a few techniques under this umbrella, we'd love to hear your thoughts, too.
