Pinterest Says This Plant Is The New Succulent
We're in the era of the Monstera.
Succulents have reigned supreme as the go-to millennial plant for years — and it makes total sense. They are super easy to take care of, come in a variety of sizes from huge cacti to petite aloe buds, and are great for environments in a drought. While succulents are definitely not out of style (especially for those who aren't particularly good at keeping plants alive), a new species has risen in popularity. Enter the Monstera Deliciosa. Also known as the Swiss Cheese plant, the fast-growing green has made it's way into homes all over. In fact, Pinterest has seen searches for the monstera rise 176% in the past year!
One of the best parts of the monstera? Unlike most plants, it can survive in a variety of spots in your home. While it can hang tight in low light areas just fine, a bright spot by the window will have your green grow like crazy. Another fun trick? If you want a pop of green in your space and don't want a full-on plant to care for, pick a leaf off and plop it in a vase with some water. Unlike most greens, a solo monstera can live without soil for a few weeks!
So get yourself a plant (or a faux one if you must) and add a little life into your home.
