The Iconic IKEA Shopping Bag Gets A Makeover
Danish design brand Hay is reinventing the look of the iconic blue and yellow bag.
Whether you love or loathe Swedish décor emporium IKEA, there’s no denying its global influence. And, perhaps one IKEA piece that has made its way into every household is the iconic blue and yellow shopping bag. Don't act like you don't have one crumbled up in your closet right this second. We can’t even count the times we’ve used it post-IKEA trip. It's come in handy for everything from laundry to groceries to thrift store runs.
So, when we heard the Swedish retailer partnered up with Danish design brand Hay to makeover the carryall (otherwise known as the Frakta bag), we knew it had to be good. According to Deezen, Hay and IKEA teamed up to reinvent the oversized tote in a gorgeous gray and green hue, woven fabric, and sans the bold logo on the straps.
The bag redesign is part of a larger collaboration which will feature furniture and lighting and launch in 2017. We can’t wait to get our hands on all of it. But, we're admittedly thrilled to carry around the new IKEA bags everywhere.
