Small-Space Solution: Bathtub or Shower Stall?

If you had to pick, which would you choose?

Anyone who watches HGTV as much as we do knows that, like time, space is money. So when you're faced with a bathroom of limiting proportions—one that you're looking to remodel to suit your needs or thinking of renting for the foreseeable future—do you go for the all-out luxury of a full bathtub or the sleek practicality of a souped-up shower? (No, you can't have both.) And if you opt for one over the other, are prospective owners going to back up your gamble?

Personally, I hate baths: they make me feel dirtier that I did before I got into one. And while clawfoot and stand-alone tubs are the ultimate indulgence in terms of pampered interiors, few apartments have the space to accommodate them. Instead, we get the standard shower head/drain-tub combo. In my own apartment, I would love to rip it out in favor of a walk-in shower, complete with glass walls, built-in toiletry compartments, and bench. (The rest of the editors at Lonny HQ, save photo editor and weirdo Genevieve Garruppo, are with me.) But I'm constantly told that people prefer tubs. Are you one of those people? If so, inquiring minds want to know: what are we missing?
