Behind the Scenes of Rosanna Pansino's L.A. Home Makeover
DwellStudio founder and Wayfair creative director Christiane Lemieux reinvents the Nerdy Nummies creator's house for both working and living
Perhaps no one knows better than Christiane Lemieux—DwellStudio founder, Wayfair creative director, and overall Lonny favorite—how the realities of life in the 21st century have transformed the field of interior design. "The way people live and work now, especially in the creative field, is so different," says Lemieux. "We do so much more in our homes." Such was the case for Rosanna Pansino, host of the popular YouTube channel Nerdy Nummies—which has more than 40 million viewers each month—and the subject of Lemieux's first episode of Overhaul, a new home makeover video series for YouTube that debuts on Saturday, May 9. "Her house is a home, office, production company, set, green room," says Lemieux. "We really had to think about how she uses the space."
So the designer collaborated with Pansino and the lifestyle programming channel Kin Community to transform her Los Angeles home into a place that was both beautiful and conducive to the star's lifestyle. "She has a minimal aesthetic—clean and pretty neutral," says Lemieux. The designer stuck to a palette of whites and pale grays and added colorful accents throughout, including bright citrus-hued throw pillows and metal, industrial-style chairs in the kitchen and aqua trellis-themed drapery in the bedroom—all sourced from Wayfair. They even added black-out roller shades to turn her workspace into an editing room for post-production.
But while the house feels like a design 180 (see a before below), it still has Pansino's tastes at heart. "In this case, I was [Rosanna's] design Yoda," says Lemieux. "I was a guide articulating her vision, making choices that were within her comfort level and doing what felt right for her." So in the dining room, which doubles as a conference room, white upholstered chairs in a more refined shape offer a slight but immediately visible upgrade to a polished wood table. To see the rest of the space, before and after, tune in for the series debut tomorrow on Pansino, Lemieux, and Kin Community's YouTube channels.
