Lack Of Supervision
“You may have passed on sketches of what you want or wrote an email to your contractor with the exact heights of those shelves, but in order to make sure your vision comes to life exactly as you want it, you need to be there in person,” recommends designer Christine Lin of Form and Field. “Contractors may have the best intentions, but sometimes they don't look at specs, drawings, or emails. They'll sometimes implement what they think is best or just not understand a direction and therefore not execute it exactly how you want it.”

“It's important to either hire someone like a designer or architect who will carry out your vision and work directly with the contractor, or if you're doing the project DIY, to observe and provide clear communication when your contractor most needs it.”
