Wit & Delight
"A few years ago, I partnered with Askov Finlayson, a curated men’s store, to develop a line winter hats with a larger campaign to rebrand Minnesota from 'Midwest' to the 'North.' Minnesota is inherently different from the Midwest, not only in climate and geography, but in an intangible way of life and mentality," says Arends.

"I’m a Chicago native, but consider myself a 'Minnesotan.' We have anywhere between three to six months of long, cold, dark winter. Instead of shutting down, that’s when we get creative," she shares. "Minnesotans are innovators that look toward the future, but have a respect for tradition. While trends come and go on the East or West, or work their way inward, we have been honing our own style and perfecting it."

"The Midwest is often overlooked or discounted in favor of either coast, and quite frankly, I like it that way," spills Arends. "I don't want the secret to get out."
