GLOBAL GIVING GLOBAL GIVING WHO THEY ARE: A nonprofit organization founded by Tory Burch—one of the world’s most admired fashion designers—with the purpose of providing economic opportunities for women and their families in the United States. HOW THEY DO IT: By partnering with leading microlender ACCION USA, the foundation encourages the success of women entrepreneurs by helping them obtain loans and financial services, in part through the sale of certain limited-edition Tory Burch products. 3 1 SERENA & LILY WHO THEY ARE: An upscale linens and housewares resource that offers furnishings for every living space, in addition to artisanal items from Kenya’s Maasai Mara. HOW THEY DO IT: Developing and selling products in collaboration with Free the Children’s Me to We Artisans project, Serena & Lily brings access to fair-trade markets and financial-literacy training to more than 400 Maasai mamas. WHY IT MATTERS: “Most girls in the Maasai Mara are married off at the age of 13. Free the Children built the first girls’ high school in this region of Kenya.
