Hanging Too Short Drapes
“Drapes being too short is like when you cut your bangs too short,” shares designer Becky Shea. Instead, you want to make sure you have them hit the perfect length where they just brush the floor like in this room.

“The most important tool to ensuring this is done accurately is to mount your drapery rod as close to the ceiling as possible — this allows for elongation on the vertical rise.”

“Second, make sure you take the measurement from the bottom of your clip ring (if you're using clips) or bottom of the rod (if you're using a track) and measure from that point to the floor,” she says. “Once you have that measurement, just add one fourth of an inch to the final dimension and it ensures that you achieve a dainty, perfect, just brushing the floor puddle.”
