“I loved getting the back-to-school assignment to cover text books when I was growing up,” says Boyle. “In a small apartment, the bookshelf we keep near the front door does triple duty as media console, toddler art station, and cookbook storage. The books especially can feel like a lot of visual clutter. To combat the chaos, I call on those middle-school text book covering skills and wrap up any books that have spines that clash with the rest of the space. The result is a calmer-looking corner. This week I did a cover refresh with brown paper bags and pretty printed papers I'd been saving for special project.”
