When Gideon Mendelson first stepped into what is now his lovely and inviting Sagaponack, New York home, he had two words for the place: "Absolutely not." It was at the time a soulless spec house, far from the "teeny little shack with potential," he had envisioned for his summer retreat. But, eight years and three kids later, the designer and his husband, Tom, have reinvented the space as a refined yet welcoming home with personality to spare.
