Your kitchen and living room are the heart of your home. They are the perfect spaces to congregate with friends and family to eat, entertain, and just kick back. So when you have the opportunity to merge the spaces together, you definitely can't pass it up.
Interior designer Brett Foken of Decorotation took up the challenge in a beautiful home two blocks from the beach in San Francisco. "The clients lived in Norway for a period of time, so a lot of inspiration drew from a combo of Scandinavian design elements mixed with the California beach-y vibes of the Outer Sunset," explains Foken.
By creating open-plan living area and giving the kitchen a modern update, the rooms were totally transformed into a dreamy minimalist escape. Click ahead to see how the space went from old school to surf shack chic.
