Lonny Editors Do Christmas: A Travel Themed Tree

The 25th of December is almost upon us, so we here at Lonny thought it'd be fun to show our readers how we celebrate—and decorate for—the holidays. Today, I'm sharing a tree inspired by the pages in my passport.

This past year has been a whirlwind of traveling for me. I found my visit to Peru, just a few short months ago, to be the most inspiring. I was enchanted by the architecture; the flora and the fauna; and the vibrant culture. I took elements from my trips and incorporated them into my Christmas tree this year, a wonderful mini Fraser Fir adopted from Green Valley Christmas Trees. I decked it out it in ornaments from Arcadia Home (which, coincidently, use Fair Trade Alpaca wool from Peru) and incorporated a few DIY projects.

Instead of a traditional tree topper, I created a mobile of paper clouds and an airplane to float over the tree. The look is lughtearted and whimsical and nods to my constant wanderlust. Other travel elements include a taxi and a bus ornament from Anthropologie and a heart-shaped map—and my actual passport, just for good measure!

My passion for exploring has inspired me and I hope it inspires you too. Safe and happy travels to anyone taking trips this holiday season!
