This Artist's Home Is Her Love Letter To Cali Culture

Cortes created a studio at home, reworking the family's living space to accommodate her passion.

"As a stay at home mom, I learned to weave my home life with my creative work life," she says.

"In the beginning, I carved a small space for myself on the kitchen table and as time went on and I began writing and creating a solid body of art, I rearranged our living spaces to make a small studio space for myself — it was a game changer for me. It really legitimized the work I was doing and allowed me to start and pause on projects without disrupting our living space."
