Wallpapered Stair Risers

(Source: Lonny / Patrick Cline)
Newsflash: wallpaper is for more than just walls. Lonny contributor Allegra Muzillo tried it on her stair risers and found every square inch to be a new creative outlet. Want to put a little pep into your steps? Here's her easy how-to.

01 Count out and measure each riser. Sound monotonous? Maybe, but riser sizes can differ slightly—and you want to get this right!
02 Trace out each measurement on the back of the wallpaper and cut it to size, leaving a little extra on all sides to ensure a perfect fit.
03 Apply craft glue, Mod Podge, or wallpaper paste to each riser as well as the back of the paper, then adhere it to the riser. Be sure to flatten bumps with a brayer or wall covering smoothing tool, paying special attention to the corners.
04 Trim excess paper with an X-Acto knife. Let the paper dry, and then seal with clear polyurethane.
