Scout+Briar's director of photography Heather Kinkels also had a couple recs. "The Paris Wife is a historical fiction peek inside Ernest Hemingway’s Paris life," she says. "Read it and then watch Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris with Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams to seal the deal."
Kinkels also recommended the classic A Tree Grows In Brooklyn. "The first two decades of the 20th century told through an Irish-American girl’s eyes growing up in New York," she explains. "Talk about perspective — it’s a great synopsis of history told in a real life way. Sobering at times, but beautiful."
