The summer may have come and gone, but that doesn't mean we can't drink like it's still the 4th of July. All you need is the proper beverage: a bracingly cold cherry mojito by our favorite recipe inventor, the incomparable Diana Yen. The Jewels of New York founder dreamed up this crisp, tart cocktail to help us prolong the dog days of summer as much as possible—even if it's only in our heads. Read on for the recipe and let us know how your mojitos turn out @Lonnymag.

Place 10 mint leaves and a lime wedge in a tall glass. Using a muddler, muddle the mint, sugar, and lime to release juices and mint oil. Add 5 pitted cherries, sugar, and another lime wedge and muddle again. Add ice. Pour in the rum and top the glass with seltzer. Stir and serve.
