Chanel vs. StudioMucci
Chanel's Spring 2014 Couture collection, which stomped down a gleaming white runway on sneaker-adorned feet this week, was a mix of sporty futurism and a mischevious nod to the past, with models donning the very corsets from which founder Coco vowed to free her sex at the turn of the century. A particularly stunning mix of the two themes popped up in an iridescent frock with its peacock-like spectrum of fringe appliqué—which reminded us instantly of the swishy-chic party adornments made by Oklahoma-based StudioMucci, crafted from twinkling mylar and multicolored tissue paper.
