Julie Houts
According to Houts, before the 2016 election, she wasn’t as in touch with what was happening in Washington. "I didn’t feel like politics really touched me in my day to day in a way that felt emotional," the illustrator says. "I kept up with current events and tried to educate myself on the issues that I felt impacted me, but I didn’t feel the need to really engage actively." She reflects, "I now see the privilege in that sort of thinking."
