Mari Andrew
"As with everything, when I draw about political issues, it's so, so personal to me," shares Andrew. "Unless I'm asking people to donate, I don't have an agenda or goal in mind — I'm simply processing my own feelings about an event. Politics affect me on an emotional level so intensely that I'm often crying while I'm creating these pieces, just as I would any other piece about grief."

This openness and raw honesty is what truly draws people of all backgrounds to her illustrations. "They're not commentary. They're not trying to persuade people. They are simply the way that I, one single person in America, am processing an event," she says.
