Not wanting to go too "Cali-cool", Foster and her clients made a conscious effort to steer clear of trendy furnishings and balance eclectic finds with classic shapes and materials. Instead of using pillows made of shibori tie-dye— an of-the-moment material her client liked — Foster incorporated the pattern in a pair of custom stools, which were elegantly tucked under a raw oak console.
