Actress Lake Bell looks right at home in her newly made-over Brooklyn backyard. Against a backdrop of lush shade plants and outdoor rugs, foundation pieces from the likes of West Elm and Pottery Barn come alive next to one-off items such as an intricately carved wooden table and charmingly aged white garden chairs from the local flea market.

When asked about her visual sensibility, she credits her mother, New York decorator Robin Bell, as a “massive inspiration.” “She has a hand in every interior-related decision in my life,” says Bell, who grew up bouncing between impeccable homes on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and in Vero Beach, Florida.
