Shop: Konbini
It may sound strange to suggest a visit to the corner bodega as a travel must, but Tokyo's convenience stores, or konbini, are nothing like the ones you know. Immense, overstimulating, and addictive, they're filled floor to ceiling with perplexing foods, talking beauty displays, and endless international magazines. My companions and I bought one "mystery snack" each day—an adventurous tactic I highly recommend.
