Michael Devine Reports: Tea For Two with Amanda Nisbet

This post was written by guest contributor Michael Devine, a New York–based textile designer. Devine's book, An Invitation to the Garden: Entertaining, Cultivating, and Cooking through the Four Seasons, will be published by Rizzoli in the spring of 2014.

(Photos by Michael Devine)One of the benefits of living in New York has been getting to know a handful of the city's talented interior designers. I am really lucky to count many of them as my friends. I have known designer Amanda Nisbet for years and whenever I see her at parties, I know I'm in for a laugh. She recently invited me to tea at her New York apartment and I simply couldn't refuse—who would want to?

The apartment has been published frequently and is featured in Nisbet's recent book, Dazzling Design, as well as Ronda Carman’s Designers at Home. The sprawling manse in the sky defines her signature chic and vivacious style. She is also an amazing hostess that leaves no detail overlooked.

We enjoyed delicious tea sandwiches from William Poll, a decadent assortment of Ladurée Macarons, beautiful flowers—and, of course, each other's company.
