Art Lesson: Lynda Churilla

From the exhibition titled Viva la Vida, photographer Lynda Churilla captures the treasured moments of youth spent on the water. Inspired by her childhood as a swimmer, lifeguard and athlete, her work brings to mind the hazy days of summer and that long-forgotten sense of freedom.

Raised in Princeton, New Jersey, Churilla graduated with a BFA in Photography from New York's prestigious School of Visual Arts. Shortly after, she began working and traveling with legendary photographer Bruce Weber, and just under a decade later, launched her own career as a photographer. Now based in New York, her impressive roster of clients and subjects include Estee Lauder, Cameron Diaz, Ralph Lauren, and Josh Brolin.

With the weather reaching unbearably humid and with summer on its way, the Viva la Vida series is a breath of fresh air.
