Alison Schneider converted a 19th-century carriage house into a chic eatery, Haven’s Kitchen, in New York's Chelsea neighborhood.(December 2012). A lounge area on the second floor is a perfectly appointed seating space in shades of black, white, and gray. A large area rug features an interlocking geometric pattern grounds a crisp black-and-white striped settee. The most surprising touch, however, is a small, mirrored table that reflects all of the prints in the room, creating a quirky optical illusion.
