For a client’s weekend home in Connecticut, designer Lisa Sherry composed spaces that were at once stylish and family-friendly (March 2013). The childrens’ playroom is bright and airy, with paint and furnishings in a serene palette. A wall-to-wall rug features squares of alternating stripes in tans, grays, and creams, creating a subtle grid pattern that’s in keeping with the casual sophistication of the rest of the house. Wall storage in a bold nautical stripe adds a lively contrast.
