Nicki Clendening’s Harlem apartment is full of furnishings and artworks picked up on the designer’s travels (August 2012). Moody charcoal walls in the dining area provide a dramatic backdrop for a tasseled, filigreed Moroccan lantern hung over a table with metal legs. The carved wood and rolled backs of the dining chairs provide a stylistic contrast. Clendening also mixes folk and modern art, hanging a mask on one wall, and a contemporary portrait on another.
