In her small objects series, which High Hopes, Low Expectations is included in, the illustrator also depicts everyday items in order to make sense of past experiences.
Miceli explains, "I love stickers and collected them when I was younger. Now, I think it's a really easy way for people to enjoy art and put it where they want —on the phone, laptop, wall, or fridge. I used to completely cover envelopes in stickers. They make a mundane process more fun."
