10. The Environmental Protection Agency Fines Chip And Joanna
Apparently someone at the Environmental Protection Agency watches HGTV because in 2018, the government department noticed that there was a problem with the way lead paint was removed on Fixer Upper, and it resulted in a $40,000 fine for Chip and Joanna's company.

According to House Beautiful, the EPA found that "the couple didn't minimize risks of lead paint exposure during removals and failed to cover floors and vents with plastic in order to catch paint chips." The magazine went on to report that "as soon as Chip and Joanna learned about this, they jumped to action. In a statement, the agency said Magnolia Homes 'took immediate steps.'"
