When it comes to small gifts (hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, presents for coworkers), I always go for goods that are edible or useful—I am adamantly anti-tchotchke. That's why I'm smitten with these new Totem candles by Bainbridge Island-based Grain. They smell like honey and look like art, plus they burn for 35+ hours. I want a family of five, just for myself! Formed in Oregon of 100% beeswax, the Grain team turns each candle on a lathe to create these unique designs. Available in three sizes and four styles from $22 each.

(Stick Candle Holders also from Grain, sold separately.)
