Rising To The Challenge
The previous design of the home highlighted some major pain points that Beryl had to address early on. “The apartment was dated and didn’t fit the aesthetic of the new homeowners,” she says. “Much of the color palette and materials felt tired and in desperate need of a refresh. The fireplace, flooring, and master bath, in particular, felt like they were stuck in the early 2000s.”

One huge undertaking for Beryl was to add another bathroom on the first floor (taking the home’s total number of bathrooms from two to three). The addition would serve as a guest bathroom so that the family could maintain a private zone in the back of the apartment where the pre-existing bathrooms and the bedrooms are all located.
